Testimonials

When I play music I feel as though I am making a contribution to the world. When we get together as a group to play music it is like creating beauty… We are coming together to create a large mitzvah for the world!

— YOKO ROSENBAUM, 9-year old SOL-LA student

Passion, expansiveness, focus, joy, and excellence all permeate SOL-LA from top to bottom; from the dedication of its staff to the atmosphere in the classes, to the absolutely wonderful end-of-term performances. We are very excited to be involved with SOL-LA from their beginnings and grateful to have been offered financial aid even as they are just getting started. SOL-LA promises to be a wonderful and influential artistic force on the Westside

— ASHLEY MAHER, SOL-LA Parent

I love SOL-LA because I made new friends while learning a lot about music. Mary Ann and Neli are the best teachers I’ve ever had.

— KOYAN SIDIBE, 8-year-old SOL-LA student

My favorite part of SOL-LA was when I wrote my own song and I was able to figure out the rhythm and the beat for everything myself. This year there are a bunch of new kids so chorus is really fun. I am learning a lot in Language of Music. Plus, Kathy is funny!

— PIETRO ALEXANDER, 10-year-old SOL-LA student

I was fortunate enough to grow up in Los Angeles when the arts in public education thrived, and my junior high and high school music programs launched me into a life in the arts. For this I am grateful, and it is the reason I am committed to doing what I can to improve the quality of arts education in Los Angeles. SOL-LA Music Academy has demonstrated a commitment to filling a gap in arts education. In a fairly short time they have rallied enormous community support for their vision.

— DAVID NEWMAN, Composer and Chairman of the Board of American Youth Symphony
