String Ensembles

Intermediate String Ensemble

Elementary and Middle School students

Intermediate String Ensemble instruction will focus on ensemble, pitch and reading skills. This class provides exposure to a range of musical genres from classical to jazz as well as an introduction to improvisation.

Teacher assessment.

Experience Required: At least one year instrumental study; Private instruction essential; Placement evaluation required.
Semester classes: 16 weekly classes

SOL-LA Ensemble

Middle and High School students

SOL-LA Ensemble instruction will focus on the intricacies of ensemble playing such as tone color, cohesiveness and interpretation. This class will explore diverse repertoire at a high performance standard.

Teacher assessment.

Experience Required: At least three years instrumental study; Private instruction essential; Placement evaluation required.

Creative Ensemble

Middle and High School students
A workshop with a focus on improvisation, song-writing and creativity. Students will learn to create and collaborate musically using rhythm, harmony, instrument techniques and, most importantly, their own imagination. Ages recommended: 10-14 years old.
