Alison Spieth Perrine

Teaching Artist


Alison received her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in viola performance from the University of California, Los Angeles, where she was a Teaching Associate in the string department. She also received her MM and BA from UCLA studying with Paul Coletti and Richard O’Neill. She is an active chamber musician, and has played in the Dilijan Chamber Music Series at Zipper Hall, as well as LACMA’s Sundays Live broadcast concert series. Alison recently participated in Dilijan’s first tour of Armenia, in which she performed the Armenian premiere of George Crumb’s Black Angels for Electric String Quartet. She has also performed chamber music internationally as part of the Incontri in Terra di Siena festival in Italy. Alison has participated in chamber music outreach concerts throughout the LA area and has also worked with public schools as part of UCLA’s Gluck Foundation outreach program.

As an orchestral musician, Alison has participated in tours of China, France, Spain, Italy, Russia, Estonia, Finland, Germany, and Poland. She was an active member of the American Youth Symphony and the YMF Debut Orchestra. She can now be seen performing with the Torrance Symphony, Golden State Pops Orchestra, and the Mozart Classical Orchestra.

Alison has participated in masterclasses with Paul Neubauer, Helen Callus, Atar Arad, Victoria Chiang, Steven Dann, James Dunham, Gilad Karni, Francois Paradis, Stuart Canin, Hal Grossman, Ida Kavafian, Rohan de Saram, and the Borromeo, Alexander, Avalon, and JACK String Quartets. She has attended and performed in numerous summer programs including The Banff Centre in Alberta, Le Domaine Forget in Quebec, and the Festival Pablo Casals in France.

Aside from classical music, she has had the opportunity to participate as a sideline musician on Glee on FOX and also performed in a run of Spring Awakening in Hollywood. Alison is currently a freelance violist and instructor in the Los Angeles area, and loves teaching students of all ages and levels.
